Since the re-birth of longboard surfing in the ’90’s, Neal has been trying to bridge the gap between traditional longboard surfing with shortboard maneuverability. This was the beginning of innovative high performance, progressive longboard surfing.
To achieve the full spectrum of longboard designs, Neal has 3 basic shapes that can be varied to the surfer’s height and weight.
Full progressive, high performance shape with shortboard features. (Flatter bottom, slight concave, double barrels, vee bottoms, hard tucked under edges.) Roudpin, thumb or squash tails. Super light & flexy for easy response & easy maneuverability. Either a thruster fin set up or removable “2 + 1” fin set up.
All shortboard speed features like shape 01 but with added nose area for a speedier down the line nose rider. Light weight single fin for down the line surfing.
Little “old school” with soft rails & bottom.Very forgiving softness with very slight progressive release off the tail. So, no bogging of slowness to your surfing flow. The softness of the bottom & rails lets you be able to put the “brakes on” to time your long, extended nose ride. Very smooth feeling with a heavier glass job, only if desired. Personally, Neal likes to keep them light for sensitivity & maneuverability.
